President Obama before a Joint Session of Congress.
This is an act of leadership, not ledership. Meaning that I make no pun with the American Jobs Act as a lede to the President before Congress. He took it to the people, in Trumanesque form. [*]
It may not have been what Congresswoman Maxine Waters wanted in scope. It may not have been calling for everything(more of the same) that was opposed by Republicans in the last two congresses. But it was a pitch that puts the ball in the kitchen or is it the bread basket?
9-9-11 Not even you can bind future congresses. But you can hold their feet to the kitchen. The president hit it out of the park, it is now on the people court. I had already used the Grand Slam metaphor(Eugene Robinson), but this is no competition. Pass the act or rev up the circus.
[*] 9-10-11 Lakoff agrees.
